I highly recommend this book, as so with the other James Herriot Collection, All Creatures Great and Small, All Things Wise and Wonderful, The Lord God Made them All, and Every Living Thing. He was an amazing author for children young and elders both. Mr Herriot is the author and I loved how the story immersed me in the tales of his work among animals, the people he met and the weather during winter when he had to plough through snow to reach an animal in need of help. I have watched the TV series but the book held my attention as no TV program ever could. I laughed and shed tears while reading this book and I guess I will do the same when I read his other books in the series. The time when the books w. Must read for any animal loverand everyone else too. Just plain hilarious! Flyboyyy If you are a farmer / rancher or overall an animal person at all, you'll almost surely LOVE this book. Whether you are actively raising animals or grew up around them, this book is a definite read. You might want to be careful about reading this in public, because you might just blurt out laughing at random times.Overall, it's a fantastic read, hilarious at times and the rest of the time just plain excellent.
