Hermia is played by Amanda Root, Oberon by David Harewood, and Bottom by Roy Hudd. The result is a lively and anarchic comedy which can only be resolved by an elaborate disentangling of spells.. Full-Cast Audio Theater Dramatization. Who really loves whom? Meanwhile, a band of well-meaning but bungling local actors have their rehearsal sabotaged by the mischievous Puck, who bewitches their leader, Bottom, and Titania, the Fairy Queen. Shakespeare's most imaginative and merry play is set in an enchanted wood amidst fairies and sprites. When Oberon, King of the Fairies, uses his magic upon four runaway lovers in a midsummer wood outside Athens, chaos ensues

Nolan's (Dinosaur Dream) sumptuous, painterly watercolors highlight the theatrical setting of the spellbound wood. Ages 7-up. . Copyright 1996 Reed Business Information, Inc. From Publishers Weekly Coville follows up his version of The Tempest (see p. Gnarled, mossy trees provide the backdrop for a cast of unusually youthful lovers, gossamer-winged fairies (which nod at Rackham's famous interpretations) and a truly puckish Puck. A first-rate entree to the Bard. The fundamental story of magic, mischief and the trials and tribulations of love is preserved through well-chosen use of the original language and Coville's heady prose ("The queen saw the ass-headed monstrosity through magic-drenched eyes"). 84) with a retelling of another of Shakesp

Twelfth Night Gabrielle Martin Bought this along with the Audible reading. I got it to go along with an Audible "Great Course" on Shakespeare. I enjoyed the reading, but the reading and the book itself kept coming unsynced. It was very distracting and therefore I can only give this 3 stars. I wanted to read along and also hear it read by experienced Shakespearean actors. As said, the reading was very distracting by the recording coming unsynced from the book several times. If Amazon is going to charge extra for the Audible reading, the least that can be done . Forgettable, but Great While it Lasts This is definitely a classic Shakespearean comedy, complete with disguises, intrigue, love, humor, and a lot of fun. In all honesty, I am not generally a big fan of comedies, but this is definitely an example of an exception. Really, it will never be considered Shakespeare's greatest, but the plot, characters, disguise and romantic elements, and even just the thought of how it would even work on stage when it was originally performed, all contribute to a great mix of humor. As to the edition itself, I found it to be greatly help. "It was nice to read for my college English class" according to Amanda Jamison. It was nice to read for my college English class. If you read it for college, you'll get a lot of people comparing it to "She's the Man" which does get really annoying. As usual, Shakespeare doesn't disappoint. It was a little bit difficult to read, but the footnotes really helped. I never have to use sparknotes for the Folgers Shakespeare Library editions since it's very straightforwards and there's a lot of information on the side.
