An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations (Annotated)
Description
Written in clear and incisive prose, The Wealth of Nations articulates the concepts indispensable to an understanding of contemporary society.. Adam Smith's masterpiece, first published in 1776, is the foundation of modern economic thought and remains the single most important account of the rise of, and the principles behind, modern capitalism
"Seminal work in economics" according to J. Lalor. All modern economic theory begins with this book. The language is clear and the numerous examples are accessible to anyone who wants to do some work to establish their historical context. It does not offer a royal road to economics, and perhaps there is not one. As an alternative, Milton Friedman's Capitalism and Freedom is shorter and easier to read but it has an axe to grind and is nowhere near as rich or as important a text. never out of style, and good as an ebook I bought this ebook because of the value of Adam Smith's work. I was travelling, and wanted to keep the number of hard-copy books to a minimum. I failed, by the way, but it's still a good edition of this classicv.. "Excellent" according to CEC. Well written classic explaining the fundamental concepts of economics that are key to understanding free markets and the burden of mercantilism.
