Beeler Method for the Cornet Book 1 (Walter Beeler Series for Brass Instruments)
Description
"EXCELLENT Cornet Method!" according to Denise Borum, JD. I am an experienced keyboard player, but I have never played a cornet. There is a comprehensive explanation of how to hold the cornet, form your embouchure, and blow through the instrument. There is also a chromatic scale and fingerings. I followed the fingerings up to F and back down. That was fun. There is a section that tells you how to maintain the instrument. Much more information is availableI've just given you the basics. This book is packed full of pieces that will help me learn to play the cornet. It will take me months if not a year for me to get thro. C Rronck said Excellent beginning trumpet book!. This is one of the best beginning to intermediate instruction books for trumpet! I have been using it for many years. I have tried others with my students that are also good, but keep coming back to this one. The exercises progress in a logical manner for beginners, with appropriate length, and get a little longer as the student progresses. There are many familiar tunes that are used again to introduce cut time or theme and variations. The pace is quicker than band method books, but just right for private students.. M. Baker said It's a good beginning method.. I wish this book had more slurring exercises. Other than that, there aren't many methods that are as comprehensive for a young, beginning trumpet player. It touches on many aspects of playing trumpet, but doesn't dive too deeply into anything in particular. That can be left to Clark, Arbans, etc. when the student is more mature. There are plenty of opportunities to develop phrasing technique, as there are many nice little tunes throughout the book. If a student can get through this book by the time he/she gets to 9th grade, he/she should be one of the more acco
A conservatory-style approach to the various brass methods, utilizing Beeler's own teaching techniques.
