The Shoals Complete Mr. C The book covers what it is suppose to in a very thorough way. It's very well done at covering the ins and outs of Appledore, the community and the culture; it couldn't be better. Images cover the breadth of Hassam's oils and watercolors made around the shoals. This is a prefect book about the topic of the shoal paintings by Hassam. Biographical info ties you to the other events in the artists life throughout his career but the shoal paintings are the main topic and where all the images represent.. Childe Hassam's impressionists beginnings are recorded by his work from this little resort island called Isles of Shoals off New Hampshire's coast. I am so grateful to have a little window into how Chile Hassam developed into the artist he was. Celia Thaxter became his poetic muse, and this book records his work from her little garden on Appledore to lighthouses, to the rocky shoals on the coastline. I highly recommend this book..
