Cosby Aaron Mahnke delivers once again with a great weekend reader for those who love a of mix of mystery, horror, and myth. While sharing some of threads that he wove in Indian Summer, Consumed stands on its own as the author shares another supernatural thriller set in small town New England.I found Consumed to be an entertaining read that doesn’t get too wrapped up in explaining every detail, but allows mystery to remain mystery. The story moves along at a good pace and doesn’t sidetrack too far into the lives of secondary characters. The main characters get just enough t. Great read! I'm biased for sure. I picked this book up because I listen to Aaron's "Lore" podcast regularly, so it was bound to happen. First off, I'm not an avid reader, but I hope to pick up the habit. This book is a wonderful start back into that practice. Not overly complex, entertaining enough to keep the pages turning during my morning commute on the subway, and although its not some revolutionary piece of literature, I felt that as a fan, I appreciated the Easter eggs throughout. The tone and pace felt on par with the Lore podcast, so if you like that, that is a no brainer. If you don. "Quick Paced" according to Ryan. The story line moved at a good pace and I enjoyed reading it. However I put four stars because the dialogue seemed a bit forced. Also, I'm not entirely sure how the main character received the 'hero' status above the other, more helpful characters.

Though unexpected, his short stay has the potential to be enjoyable. However, the longer Ben stays in town, the more questions he has. His temporary host could not be more accommodating, and the local librarian quickly takes an interest in Ben, as well as the research for his next novel. But when he stumbles upon the second murder in Kettering within a week, he realizes his presence in town might actually be life-threatening. Ben soon finds himself torn between leaving as soon as he can and his feelings for the alluring Ellen Hornsby. Something is in the woods, something hidden among the shadows that grow ever longer with winter's approach, and it's hunting all of them.. Aspiring author Ben Simmons hates imposing himself upon others, so when he breaks down in the small Rhode Island town of Kettering, he's forced to grit his teeth and lean on strangers for help. Together, these individuals must set aside their differences and find the killer before the body count climbs any higher, but time is running out. Who is the killer? How are these murders connected to similar crimes committed 30 years before? And why haven't the townspeople done anything? As Ben's list of allies grows, so too does the threat that haunts the people of Kettering. It's not all bad, though
