Desperation

Desperation
Description
The secrets embedded in Desperation's landscape and the evil that infects the town like some viral hot zone are both awesome and terrifying. But getting out is not easy as it would seem. And it is a place where several travelers are abducted by Collie Entragian, the maniacal police officer of Desperation. Located off a desolate stretch of Interstate 50, Desperation, Nevada, has few connections with the rest of the world. "The terror is relentless" (Publishers Weekly) in Stephen King's number-one national best seller about a little mining town, Desperation, that many will enter on their way to somewhere else. It is a place, though, where the seams between worlds are thin. Entragian uses various ploys for the abductions, from an arrest for drug possession to "rescuing" a family from a nonexistent gunman. But as one of the travelers, young David Carver, seems to know - though it scares him nearly to death to realize it - so are the forces summoned to combat them.. There's something very wrong here, all right, and Entragian is only the surface of it
Beware Small Town Sheriffs! Karen L. I read this book a few years ago and couldn't put it down! I loved this story, and the lessons it made me consider. A sheriff is taken over by an ancient evil and reeks havoc! Unleashing hell on everyone unfortunate enough to cross its path. Amid the destruction, there is Hope, but only to tho. "As good as I remembered" according to Pinkdiamond. When I first got into Mr. Stephen King back in middle and high school, it was this book that really put him on the map for me. Reading this book again for the first time sixteen years later, I know why.I wanted to go back and re-read all of the classic King books before I started getting into . Just as good as it was in 1996 I had initially read this book shortly after its original publication in 1996 and really enjoyed it. It was just as good of a read the second time when I finished it recently. One thing that was interesting on the second read was that the book did not seem dated even more than 20 years later.
