From Midnight to Guntown: True Crime Stories from a Federal Prosecutor in Mississippi

From Midnight to Guntown: True Crime Stories from a Federal Prosecutor in Mississippi
Description
But Hailman delivers the inside story no one else can. The book is published by University Press of Mississippi.. In addition to bank robbers - generally the dumbest criminals - Hailman describes scam artists, hit men, protected witnesses, colorful informants, corrupt officials, bad guys with funny nicknames, over-the-top investigators, and those defendants who had a certain roguish charm. Several of his defendants and victims have since had whole books written about them: Dickie Scruggs, Emmett Till, Chicago gang leader Jeff Fort, and Paddy Mitchell, leader of the most successful bank robbery gang of the 20th century. As a federal prosecutor in Mississippi for over 30 years, John Hailman worked with federal agents, lawyers, judges, and criminals of every stripe. He also recounts his scary experience
Four Stars great book stories of home. GREAT BOOK - EVERYONE INTERESTED IN THE TRUE MISSISSIPPI SHOULD READ Roy Thompson Interesting book front to back. As an old fraud investigator (now retired) I felt right at home with John Hailman. Also being from North Mississippi I had from previous work experiences known many of the persons mentioned in the book. I worked in many of the same areas in commercial situations which often lead to criminal charges being placed. John did a good job of keeping the book lively. I'm normally not much of a reader, but I ran to the book as often as I could fi. Good stories for my husband to read. My husband is enjoying this book. Thanks for offering it.
