Hell Is Empty: A Walt Longmire Mystery

Hell Is Empty: A Walt Longmire Mystery
Description
Great Read I have been reading all of Craig Johnson's Longmire series. This one will haunt you for a while. His descriptions of Longmire's chase of an escaped serial killer to the top of one of the tallest peaks in the country during a blizzard are harrowing. Longmire fights extreme cold, people with guns and a raging forest fire to go after the killer. I read into the wee hours so I could finish the book.As ever, Johnson makes his characters seem real. At times funny, always human, you know who these people are and you like them (at least, I do). Johnson portrays the people and environs of the high plains and the American West with accuracy and af. Masterful storytelling -- not for faint of heart Darleen Michael Baker A deep exploration of the man, "Hell is Empty" takes you on Longmire's personal journey into Dante's final circle of hell. It is frightening, pulse pounding and unforgettable.Using the backdrop of the Big Horn mountains and a spring blizzard, Johnson has crafted a stellar piece of work. I don't say this lightly. This was an emotionally difficult book to read because up to this point I have enjoyed the wit and wisdom of Walt Longmire and his merry band of cohorts. HiE is a dark turn but a brilliant portrait of the Western Hero.Longmire's moral compass never wavers in spite of the inner voices that keep urging him to stop, rest, let someo. and all live happily until the next book in the series I've read many of the Longmire books and I'm not enjoying them as I once did. In my opinion, they have developed a pattern where Sherrif Longmire is presented with a problem, he is injured while taking care of the problem, recovers, and all live happily until the next book in the series. Maybe I read to many of them to close together.
Spur Award-winner Craig Johnson has garnered critical acclaim for his Walt Longmire mysteries. When three hardened convicts escape FBI custody in a mountain blizzard, an armed psychopath leads them up Big Horn Mountain. As Longmire struggles to track their treacherous ascent, he'll need all the help he can get from the tribal spirits of the towering summit.. In this riveting seventh entry, Wyoming's Absaroka County sheriff, Walt Longmire, is pushed beyond his limits
