Cissa said Pippi: a heroine for our time!. I adored Pippi as a kid! And this novel- more a set of short stories- is great.Pippi is very anarchic, and demonstrates the capabilities of 9-year-olds, albeit in an exaggerated way. She is kind, stands up top both adult and child bullies, and requires everyone to treat her like herself, rather than an example of a class. This is a heroine for both boys and girls- my husband also loved these stories as a kid.Very recommended!. "Loved this book as a little girl!" according to Melissa Mesa. I loved this book as a little girl and I'm excited my daughter will be getting it in her Easter basket this year. I would have given this book 5 stars without a doubt, but the front cover of the book was torn. So that was disappointing, but a little tape will fix it.. "Classic that stands the test of time" according to Ausskez. I just started reading Pippi to my 5 year old and she is HOOKED. Her first real chapter book and every night she's ready for me to read the very next chapter. She can't wait to learn to read "properly" so that she can enjoy the text for herself, in the meantime we're having loads of fun laying in bed together and chuckling over the antics of that mischievous redhead!
She lives in a cottage by herself, with a horse and a monkey for company, and her adventures are the wildest imaginable.. She is nine years old and very, very strong. Pippi Longstocking is the only girl in the world who can do exactly what she likes
Pippi's high-spirited, good-natured hijinks cause as much trouble as fun, but a more generous child you won't find anywhere. Simply put, Pippi is irresistible. When she's not dancing with the burglars who were just trying to rob her house, she's attempting to learn the "pluttification" tables at school; fighting Adolf, the strongest man in the world at the circus; or playing tag with police officers. More than anything, Pippi makes reading a pleasure; no child will welcome the end of the book, and many will return to Pippi Longstocking again and again. Pippi is an irrepressible, irreverent, and irrefutably delightful girl who lives alone (with a monkey) in her wacky house, Villa Villekulla. (Ages 9 to 12). Astrid Lindgren has created a unique and lovable character, inspiring generations of
