Go to book on PM basics GF in IL This is a very good book to explain the PMBOK standards. It provides clear scenarios, asks questions to ensure you understand, and has many good examples. It helps the reader see how to apply the standards to real projects and explains why each standard is important. I used it to supplement in a class on Project Management; I likely could have simply used this as the text. I am not sure that you'd be able to pass a PMBOK certification after this, but I'd guess you could.. Again much to my surprise it well exceeded my expectations. Street Smart is not just an endless list of tips without context as may other books that label themselves street smart turnout to be. The book is rich with job aids, templates and guides that make actually doing the job of project management easier.If you think a PM's role is just filling in task names and durations into Microsoft Project, tracking and printing schedules. This series is not for you.
