"Delightful" according to Firefly1Delightful I don't have a lot of audio poetry to compare this to, but I love listening to accessible Rumi translations in Barks' down-home tones. The cd presents part/all of a live public reading, so I get Barks' interspersed patter before/between poems, which I really enjoy. The accompanying cello seems designed to cue listeners into the tone of the poem being read. I find the music enlivens the reading, but I can imagine that if you have trouble concentrating or hearing, it could be distracting. If you're not sure about this cd, you can lis. . As a live recording we get the benefit of hearing the audience's responses to Coleman Barks' delivery of Rumi's words in translation. So, in a sense, WE get to be there too.I listen to this CD often, when walking, when driving, or just sitting still in my study.. Read with Heart ! Mercurio This is a great introduction for anyone to "Rumi". If you already Love his work then this is very good for making it available through any music source you have. I Recommend you try this even if you have never heard of it !!
