Sex, Drugs, Ratt & Roll: My Life in Rock
Description
What they did with their fame and fortune is a riotous tale ofSEX, DRUGS, RATT &ROLLPearcy was a scrawny, horny, thrill-seeking teenager with an electric guitar who had graduated from backyard parties in San Diego to half-empty dives in Los Angeles before he and his band broke through at Whiskey a Go Go. The bigger Ratt got, the more excessive Pearcy and his “pussy pirates” became. Drugs. His infamous partner-in-crime, Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby, a blond Viking with an unsurpassed appetite for drugs and women, cuts a towering and tragic figure throughout. As Ratt scrambled up a wall of fame and wealth, so they experienced the gut-wrenching free fall, after too many hours in buses, planes, and limos; too many women; too many drugs; and all the personality clashes and ego trips that marked the beginning of the end. Cranking out metal just as metal got hot, Ratt was the perfect band at the perfect time, and their hit single “Round and Round” became a top-selling anthem. Stephen Pearcy and supergroup Ratt hit the bull’s-eye. A jaw-dropping tell-all from the lead singer of
"Very funny and loaded with tales of Stephen's many sexual conquests, funny stories about his bandmates, other musical contemporaries of his era and some very unusual first encounters with many of them." (Robert Scales They Will Rock You)
. Formed in Los Angeles in 1982 from the remains of his band Mickey Ratt, Ratt was known for their flamboyant appearance and rebellious attitude. "Memoirs of a bygone era" according to Chongo. This is a great book that was very difficult to put down much like Motley Crue's "The Dirt". In fact I'd put both of these books together & if there's a third one out there somewhere that also features another infamous L.A. Rock band from the 80's, it could very well be a trilogy of sorts. Like a Brett Easton Ellis novel minus the nonsensical, this book pretty much covers all the corners of the 1980's subculture summing it up in a wildly all consuming hed. "The title says it all, and in that order too" according to Larry. Have you ever had someone lie to you, and you knew right away that they were lying to you. And they knew that you knew that they were lying to you, but they still lied to you to anyway? Maybe lie is too harsh of word, more like exaggerate greatly. Welcome to the tales of Stephen Pearcy. What I don’t understand is why he feels the need to exaggerate some of his life’s exploits? He’s a rock star, right? Surely there would be enough, withou. "Will bring you Back For More" according to FJK11Will bring you Back For More Excellent book on the Metal scene on 1980s LA from Stephen's perspective and the entire history of RATT. Very smooth read and great details on other bands, groupies, etc. Easily one of the better auto biographies that I've read in ages.. 8.
