The step by step technique is repeated throughout different conditions and sizes of urban repair with diagrams, zoom-in views, and examples. It is like a recipe with instruction from how to cook for two to how to handle catering for hundreds and thousands. One missing component is vertical height. The. "under-emphasized need" according to Randall Arendt. This book is a very helpful resource, but a close examination of many of its before-after visuals (such as on page 115)reveals that as many as a half-dozen parking garages appear in the after scenarios, enabling the high densities to be achieved, with resultant walkability. My only criticism of the book is that so many examples are dependent on multi-story par. Excellent Book This is an excellent book on repairing sprawl, for the architect, planner or developer as well as for a lay person. It is well written and easy enough for a lay person to understand and explains itself very well and yet it is an excellent resource for anyone in the field.
