The Comedy of Errors (Arkangel Complete Shakespeare)

The Comedy of Errors (Arkangel Complete Shakespeare)
Description
"Good choice for the serious Shakespeare student as well as the amateur actor." according to Alban Richey. This edition benefits from the editor's extensive knowledge of the Shakespeare canon, especially in the 50 pages of the technical introduction, in the footnotes to the text, and in the appendices that deal with performance history. Highly recommended.. THE COMEDY OF ERRORS (Annotated) e-book addition The formatting of this version is alright, but it lacks line numbers. This is frustrating if you are referencing it in a paper - which is done by act, scene, and line. The other odd thing about this addition is that the "Annotated" part comes wholesale from Wikipedia. The text itself isn't annotated in any way, nor is there a critical look at the play, instead there is some Shakespeare info tacked on to the end.. Just what we needed! This book is golden! The cut of the play gives the feel of the entire work and all of the suggestions on staging and props are right on for a middle-high school production of the play. I can't wait to do another play from the series next year.
Young Antipholus of Syracuse is searching the world for his identical twin brother, separated from him at birth. The pair arrive in Ephesus where, unbeknownst to them, their twins are living.. Antipholus of Syracuse is played by David Tennant, Antipholus of Ephesus by Brendan Coyle. Alan Cox and Jason O'Mara are the two Dromios, while Niamh and Sorcha Cusack play Adriana and Luciana. Chaos and confusion mount to a crescendo in a wild and fast-paced comedy of mistaken identity, one of Shakespeare's earliest plays. Full-Cast Audio Theater Dramatization.
Laury Magnus’s edition of The Comedy of Errors is a treasure—it gives us all the footnotes Kittredge never himself wrote along with a superb collection of production photographs of a wide variety of performances and extended production notes. The introduction is comprehensive in establishing the various ideas and dimensions of a play mistakenly thought to be the simple Roman farce of a young playwright. This combination is a real winner.- Arthur F. And teachers will find the extended list of assignments as suggestively fruitful as students reading the play for the first time. Kinney, University
