The Feynman Lectures on Physics: Volume 1, Quantum Mechanics
Description
For more than 30 years, Richard P. This timeless audio serves as a comprehensive library of essential physics by a legend in science.Volume 1 makes up a beginning course in Quantum Mechanics and includes chapters on basic physics, quantum behavior, the relationship between the wave and particle viewpoints, probability amplitudes, and spin one and spin one-half particles.. Ranging from the most basic principles of Newtonian physics through such formidable theories as Einstein's general relativity, superconductivity, and quantum mechanics, Feynman's lectures stand as a monument of clear exposition and deep insight. Feynman's three-volume Lectures on Physics has been known worldwide as the classic resource for students and professionals alike
A contrarian view LeegleechN I have a college level background in physics and am reading these to fill in gaps in my knowledge. I have learned many new things already (3/4 of the way through book 1); however I think it is worth stating a few potential issues that haven't been elucidated by other reviews. Ultimately I am happy that I bought the books but I would not recommend them to others without reservation.First, I do not think these books are suitable for someone . Lawrence J. Winkler said Content beyond reproach, but not for the faint.. Of course the substantive content is beyond reproach, but it remains a challenging read, regardless of one's educational background. However, if you are reading the Feynman Lectures with Kindle for the iPad, be aware you will be disappointed in the formatting -- when inline mathematical expressions are rendered, these formulas are not properly displayed. Speaking with the editor of the Feynman Lectures, he informs me that Amazon has not upd. "This is the edition to get" according to Christopher. I was not excited to order the Millennium Edition, but in 201This is the edition to get I was not excited to order the Millennium Edition, but in 2013 it's the right choice for most people. The Millennium Edition has glossy ink and skinny letters, making it harder to read. But you can buy it new at a reasonable price and it is readable. This in my experience outweighed the hassle of finding acceptable copies (cost and condition-wise) of previous editions which have nice dark ink and normal thickness letters.
