It’s reasonably well written and the idea of there being four primary classifications into which people can be placed is as old as the hills – and therein lies the problem for me. I think nearly all humans go through a phase, if not their entire life, wondering if they’re the square peg in the round hole or everyone else is. And that’s where Gretchen Rubin and those like her, find their markets. I don’t doubt that Ms. Rubin is well-intentioned. Likewise her theories of there being “fou. Wish I Had Better Things to Say Having read some of Ms Rubins' previous work, I'm not surprised that this book didn't teach me anything I didn't already know about myself. I'm an Obliger - the traits of an Obliger per the book are things I'm well aware of within myself, and I'm aware of what it would take to change myself. Unfortunately, I'm also OCPD and change does not come easily to me. I found nothing in The Four Tendencies to help with that aspect of being an Obliger.
