Description

After living in Mexico City, Tangier, Paris, and London, Burroughs finally returned to America in 1974. Burroughs was one of the most significant people in twentieth-century American popular culture and literature. His previous books include The Typewriter Is Holy: The Complete, Uncensored History of the Beat Generation; I Celebrate Myself: The Somewhat Private Life of Allen Ginsberg; and Beat Atlas: A State by State Guide to the Beat Generation in America. He has edited several collections of letters by Beat writers such as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, and Gary Snyder. Louis, Missouri

The centerpiece of the collection is a complete, previously unissued recording of Burroughs reading live in Liverpool in 1982. The disc also includes performances by Gysin of a selection of his “permutated poems,” as well as previously unheard home recordings made by the pair in Paris in 1970, all taken from tapes in the British Library collection. . Burroughs and Brion Gysin is a rare collection of recordings featuring the American writer William S. Burroughs (1914–97) and the British-born

"Burroughs fans stay away" according to Sean Nolan. I guess they were lovers(?) but the Gysin contribution turned this album to crap! Five stars for the small bit of unpublished Burroughs, but that's how bad the Gysin bit is. "BURROUGH/GYSIN DELIGHT INTERZONE CLASSIC" according to P. Mata. I collect all Burroughsian things & this was an amazing aural vivd experience I'll always cherish. Especially to listen to on a long night excursion towards the unknown. Play at maximum volume.
